Day Nine – Nine Ladies Dancing
I hope you are all enjoying our Twelve Days of Christmas so far. I am having fun writing the blogs and think I might make some of these activities a yearly tradition. If we look at the song from a religious perspective the nine ladies dancing represent the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. Assign one of the fruits to each child in your home and have them exhibit one for the day. You can even give each child more than one a day or one each day. Have fun and be creative. Ask the kids to also be creative in how they demonstrate each of the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Kindness is easily demonstrated by being kind to a sibling, but what about to someone at school who could use an act of kindness. I know in my house, at least this year, self control will be the one assigned. All of us can work on that….from indulging in sweets to thinking before speaking.
I am also going to take this day to have some fun and dance. There are tons of youtube videos out there on dancing, both teaching and just for viewing. Maybe pick the fox trot, the waltz or the meringue to learn today. Make it a fun day as we are getting really close to Christmas. I always like to try at least once a week, if not every day, to have moments of just fun and play. We will come up with activities to get the “wiggles” out, it can be as simple as getting up and doing 10 jumping jacks, taking a jog around the block or play on one of her scooters. Enjoy!!!!
